Over 20 participants competed in three divisions—Beginning Bodyboarding; Advanced Bodyboarding; and Flowboarding. There were three judges who based their scoring on style, variety and overall strength of the rider.
In the Beginning Bodyboarding divisions, where participants ride the bodyboard on their stomach or knees, twelve vied for first, second and third place.
First place was awarded to John Deloach, second place to Jerry Greathouse, Jr and third place to Debi Berge.
In the Advanced Bodyboarding division, Shelby Payne received first place, Michael Sloan won second place, and Jason Harmon placed third out of eight total competitors.
In the Flowboarding division, the division where riders simulate “surfing” by standing on the specialized board, eight competed for the top three places.
First place was awarded to Chad Beggs, second place to Alex Herndon, and third place to Justin Deal.
The FlowRider was added to Splash in the Boro Waterpark in 2009 and is the only double FlowRider in Georgia.
The FlowRider generates a thin sheet of water that flows over a stationary wave form. The resulting “wave” permits riders to emulate the maneuvers of board sports.
The FlowRider is available for sessions and rental during non-operating hours at Splash in the Boro. To learn more about sessions and rentals, please call (912) 489-9051. |
